Education Manager & Resident Teaching Artist

The Education Manager and Resident Teaching Artist is an integral member of TheatreSquared’s education staff, charged with facilitating residencies, teaching after school and weekend classes, and assisting with the training and development of teachers. Additionally, this opportunity offers room for educational and professional growth as the company begins its new phase in the life of the education department. This position reports to the Director of Education.

As the Education Manager & Resident Teaching Artist—and as a positive, collaborative member of an inclusive workforce—this new staff member will help TheatreSquared answer the question, “How can a theatre be an agent of social change—helping foster a community that is fundamentally more equitable?”

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop curriculum for and facilitate the In School Residencies program with support from the Director of Education, Education Associate, and Arts Engagement Director.
    NOTE: this position will require traveling to schools throughout the state of Arkansas and potentially neighboring states with occasional overnight stays.
  • Assist in creation and documentation of educational curriculum for residency programs, aligning them to the Arkansas Academic Standards.
  • Assist in the hiring, training and observations of teaching artists; provide mentorship for new and established teaching artists.
  • Oversee and grow the internship program for T2 in partnership with Director of Education
  • Assist with marketing needs for the various programs within the Education Department
  • Assist the Director of Education in creating an annual budget for Education Programs; supervise monthly budgetary tracking and reporting, including current financial results and budget performance forecasting. Monitor and document program budgets, including receipt tracking and reporting.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are being followed for a clean, safe, secure, inclusive and healthy environment for program participants. Monitor accessibility for all education and outreach programs. Coordinate, conduct, and disseminate program evaluations and analyze assessments to improve program quality.
  • Support the Director of Education in the coordination, hiring, and Mentorship of 4 apprentices in a 9-month apprenticeship and up to 3 apprentices during the Arkansas New Play Festival.
  • Support the Education Team and the Director of Education with the Arkansas Schools Tour.
  • Interface with other departments, including Box Office and facilities, to execute on-site education programs including Summer Camps, School Year Classes, and Student Matinees.
  • Teach in programs as assigned: i.e. camps, classes, corporate trainings, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support TheatreSquared’s mission.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theatre, Arts Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (will use personal vehicle)
  • Meaningful experience in teaching performing arts and developing educational programs.
  • Familiarity with Arkansas Academic Standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Curriculum development and implementation.
  • Organizational and multitasking capabilities.

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience hiring, training, and mentoring teaching artists.
  • Budget management and financial reporting.
  • Marketing and promotional skills.
  • Commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Experience with Tessitura or similar CRM and Ticketing Systems.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This permanent, full-time, exempt position includes an annual salary range of $48,000 - $53,000, commensurate with experience, and full benefits. Knowledge, experience, skill-set and abilities will determine compensation. Full benefits include health; dental; paid time off; paid parental leave; professional development allowance; employer-sponsored long-term and short-term disability; $100,000 in employer-sponsored term life insurance; and voluntary 401(k).
