The Peel Compton Foundation is hiring a Site Manager for Osage Park! We are seeking a strong leader with a passion for Nature, Education, Recreation and Preservation.

The Peel Compton Foundation is a premier and growing nonprofit organization, located in Bentonville, AR. We are seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as the site manager for Osage Park. The Peel Compton Foundation owns and operates the Peel Museum & Botanical Garden, Compton Gardens & Arboretum, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, and Osage Park. The uniting mission for these diverse properties is to connect the community through nature, education, recreation and preservation. The Peel Compton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

About the Position:
You'll join a top-notch team, be a partner to the Director of Operations and drive all aspects of operational excellence and management. You will play a critical role in the day to day operations of Osage Park. This is a tremendous opportunity for an accomplished individual to help shape an adventure-based park, in an urban setting with recreational opportunities that enrich the community. Osage Park is ~70 acres and includes a designated wetland that is key to our mission to preserve this part of the Illinois River Watershed. The public will enjoy the raised walkways through this serene wetland area, as well as, the recreational features on site including a state-of-the-art archery range, pickleball courts, multiuse pavilion, food trucks, and more.

General Responsibilities:
  • Lead & execute the day-to-day operations and management of Osage Park inclusive of all property elements
  • Manage the Osage Park staff (hiring, training, performance management, etc.)
  • 3rd Party Relationship Management (ie. Service and maintenance contracts)
  • P&L Management, budgeting and capital planning
  • Secondary duties may be assigned
Operations:
  • Coordinate and appropriately manage Osage Park staff, construction and maintenance vendors, 3rd parties, and volunteers to ensure a constantly high level of quality across all park attributes and amenities.
  • Coordinate, continuously improve and lead the execution of the operations and maintenance plan. This includes the grounds, waterways, and facilities while prioritizing the conservation of the natural ecology of the space along with visitor experience and safety.
  • Maintain cleanliness and operation of facilities including the archery range, pickleball courts, multiuse pavilion, restrooms, signage, furniture, etc.
  • Maintain appearance of the grounds and raised walkways. This includes mowing, vegetation trimming, periodic replacement of location-specific plantings, maintenance of landscaped beds, pesticide application, litter removal, and clean-up after weather events.
  • Restore native habitat in the forest, prairie, and wetland systems to include removal and management of invasive plant species, the seeding and planting of native plants, management of beaver impact, stream bank stabilization, litter removal, and erosion control
  • Address customer requests and emergencies on site and escalate customer or safety concerns appropriately.
  • Ensure the site meets budget goals on a sustaining basis. Assist in the development of long-range plans and capital outlay requirements for program/process improvements.
  • Effectively provide verbal and written communication.
  • Provide needed set-up, event management, tear-down and clean-up as related to special event programming at Osage Park.
  • Salaried position. The preserve is open 365 days a year, staff coverage is required for holidays and weekends.
Who we are seeking:
  • Minimum of a B.A. and 5+ years of park management experience
  • 5-10 years of overall professional experience
  • The ideal candidate has experience in leadership and management and a demonstrated track record of high-performance while being able to use sound judgement and reasoning to make decisions
  • Significant park facilities management and conservation experience required
  • Inspires and motivates employees, instills trust and respect amongst all employees, and accepts feedback
  • Wetland management experience
  • Vegetation management experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
  • Ability to use common hand and power tools, operate small utility and passenger vehicles
  • Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
