Job Title: Biology Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year

Reports to: Head of Upper School

FLSA Status: Exempt

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Teach sections of Biology, AP Biology, and Health

  • Develop and teach 1 or 2 electives related to the biological sciences, such as Anatomy & Physiology, Ecology or Environmental Science, Psychology, Medical Terminology, etc.

  • Serve as an advisor for a small group of upper school students

  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and maintain records of grades

  • Assume the responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the classroom, during lunch and activity periods, and in all school settings

  • Interact in a professional manner with colleagues, students, and parents

  • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus

  • At least two years of classroom experience in Biology or a related field

  • A proven commitment to the development of young people as individual learners

  • A track record of collaboration with colleagues

  • CPR certification preferred

Physical Requirements with or without accommodations:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.

  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one’s tone and height, by bending, leaning, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in order to teach each child.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
