Your role at Clorox:
This role is part of the Category Leadership Accelerator (CLA), a team that builds competitive advantage for Clorox by providing an unbiased category point of view through compelling, holistic and objective Category Insights and Activation Plans that drive category growth and influence customer growth strategies with key retail partners.The Manager, Category Leadership Accelerator (CLA) is responsible for generating and transforming data and insights into action to influence BU & Sales decisions. This individual will provide insights to optimize category performance, identify growth opportunities, and support long-term business goals. You will be the key person for shaping understanding of market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitive dynamics within your category.
In this role, you will:
Category Strategy Support:
- Serve as category ‘expert’; inform and drive data-led decision making for Sales & BU stakeholders. Embed insights into Category Visions, Customer Growth Strategies and retailer activation plans.
- Provide insights and recommendations regarding category performance, opportunities, and risks, and ensure category insights align with broader business objectives.
- Influence key business decisions related to product development, distribution, and merchandising initiatives, specifically assortment, shelf and merchandising.
- Partner with key stakeholders to define category growth strategies and support the execution of those strategies with actionable insights.
- Ensure the BU team and leadership are aligned on insights and strategies to drive category performance and growth.
Market and Consumer Insights:
- Create, integrate, and expand insights by combining primary research, existing knowledge, internal DIY tools, and third-party data sources to drive actionable recommendations aligned to business objectives.
- Lead in-depth analysis of macro & market trends, and shopper behavior within the category.
- Leverage multiple sources of data including 3rd party shopper data tools (e.g. Circana, Nielsen, Numerator, Kantar) and existing insights to develop compelling insights stories that spark growth.
- Comfort with custom research is a benefit, with the ability to conduct primary and secondary research to understand shifts in consumer preferences, purchasing patterns, and emerging trends.
Leadership and Communication:
- Demonstrate expertise in specific domains of category analytics & insights, including use of emerging technologies or AI tools.
- Lead capability building and continuous modernization in areas of expertise (e.g. Assortment Optimization, Shelving Leadership) to ensure competitive advantage for Clorox insights capabilities.
Innovation and Thought Leadership:
- Shape and deliver best in class category and marketplace research uncovering strategically significant insights and ideas that drive category growth.
- Maintains a strong external focus in areas of expertise, proactively bringing in fresh ideas that strengthen Clorox competencies, capabilities and ways of working.
- Develops strong cross-functional relationships and drives business partner education and engagement to maximize insights ROI through superior execution of ideas that fuel growth.
What we look for:
- 5+ years of experience in category management, category insights / development, or business intelligence roles, with a strong understanding of consumer goods, retail, or relevant industry categories.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to apply insights to business strategies.
- Evidence to influence business direction as a strategic partner.
- Expertise in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, SPSS, or similar).
- Experience with quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, as well as customer segmentation and categry development, is preferred.
Workplace type:
JustificationThe Category Advisor Associate Director will be able to sit out of the any of the Clorox Hub locations and reporting into an office 3x per week. Open to remote qualified candidates.

We use broad salary ranges that reflect the competitive market for similar jobs, provide sufficient opportunity for growth as you gain experience and expand responsibilities, while also allowing for differentiation based on performance. Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.
–Zone A: $128,000 - $252,200
–Zone B: $117,400 - $231,200
–Zone C: $106,700 - $210,200

This job is also eligible for participation in Clorox’s incentive plans, subject to the terms of the applicable plan documents and policies.
