Thaden School seeks a part-time Theater Arts faculty member to work closely with Thaden’s leadership and faculty members in continuing to develop the programming to bring the Theater Arts program to life as a vital part of a Thaden education.

Role and Responsibilities

• Teach two Middle School Theater Arts classes.
• Direct two Middle School Theater productions per year.
• Strengthen and fortify the scope and sequence of the Middle School Theater Arts curriculum.
• Employ standards-based instructional and assessment practices.
• Serve on a grade-level team to support the socioemotional, academic, and intellectual development of students.
• Work with the Assistant Heads and Division Heads to advise on curriculum development, educational technology, and other learning needs.
• Participate in faculty meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, and Attributes

• Experience teaching Theater Arts and related skills (casting, blocking, directing, stage production, etc.) at the Middle School level.
• Ability to teach student cast members at different levels of development.
• Mastery of the subject matter (a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required).
• Ability to design and implement age-appropriate programs for students.
• Ability to work effectively with educators in a wide range of academic disciplines.

Physical Requirements

• Job frequently requires standing, walking, and handling objects with hands.
• Job occasionally requires reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Some work is performed outside and may require exposure to changing weather conditions.
