We seek to invest in groundbreaking medicines treating and curing human disease, with a focus on companies achieving human proof-of-concept within the horizon of our first investment. Opportunity:

The team is looking for an experienced healthcare-centric professional with native Mandarin Chinese and fluent English, who can lead sourcing, diligence, and participate in execution of venture through public biotech investments with a China nexus. Symbiosis has a well-defined investment process honed across dozens of investments, including in China, and are looking for an experienced candidate to contribute to expanding the firm’s relationships and deal-flow in the region. Your language skills, business acumen, and leadership will be what truly matters at SymBiosis.

Ideal Candidate:

You are an excellent communicator who can gain and keep the trust and confidence of colleagues, superiors, and the management and boards of the private and public companies in which the team invests. You are a student of financial markets who is relentless about finding opportunities and generating investment returns. You are a fast learner who can quickly understand new scientific or medical concepts and distill them to their commercial implications.

Qualified candidates must have completed a training program at an investment bank or consulting firm or similar and have at least five years of pharma or biotech-related work experience. While formal PhD- or MD-level scientific or medical training is a plus, it is not required.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Relationship Building & Sourcing: Able to use native Mandarin, fluent English, and cross-cultural fluency to build relationships with leading Chinese investors and entrepreneurs that reliably drive differentiated sourcing of venture and public investment opportunities, business development, and operational capabilities (e.g., CDMO, CRO, etc.).

• Deal Team Leadership: Able to lead efficient and comprehensive diligence processes by identifying key research questions, motivating Analysts and Associates, and deriving information from a variety of sources to support investment decisions.

• Asset Selection: Able to formulate informed, clear, and concise investment theses and persuasively champion investments that generate attractive risk-adjusted returns.

• Operational Execution: Attentive to the details of all aspects of investment execution, including managing external and internal stakeholders through diligence and closing, post-close monitoring, and limited partner reporting.
