Position Summary
Siloam Springs School District is seeking a motivated and skilled educator to lead its Industrial Technology Program within the Career Academy. This position prepares students for high-demand careers in industrial maintenance, welding, manufacturing, and construction trades through hands-on instruction, industry partnerships, and workforce readiness training.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction in industrial maintenance, welding, and construction trades.
- Teach technical skills including welding processes, tool use, blueprint reading, fabrication, measurements, maintenance systems, and construction methods.
- Provide instruction in workplace safety, including lock out/tag out, confined space, hot work permits, MSDS, fall restraint, risk assessment, OSHA standards, and related practices.
- Integrate employability skills such as communication, teamwork, attendance, professionalism, interviewing, and problem-solving.
- Create and maintain a safe, organized, and positive shop/classroom environment.
- Supervise students in hands-on lab settings and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Industrial Technology Program, including equipment, inventory, maintenance, district assets, and budget management.
- Build partnerships with local businesses and industry leaders to support apprenticeships, internships, job shadowing, tours, and guest speakers.
- Serve as liaison between business partners and the Career Academy.
- Identify and promote industry-recognized certifications that improve student marketability.
- Recruit and retain students for the program while promoting opportunities to students and families.
- Maintain accurate student, certification, inventory, and program records.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and Career & Technical Education programs.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning to stay current in industry practices and emerging technologies such as PLC, CNC, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, electrical systems, machining, CAD, and boiler operations.
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, dependability, and regular attendance.
- Lead or co-lead a student organization related to Career and Technical Education.
Preferred Areas of Instruction
- Welding (MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy-Fuel, and cutting processes)
- Industrial Maintenance Fundamentals
- Electrical and Mechanical Systems Basics
- Construction Trades (carpentry, framing, concrete, plumbing, HVAC, and related skills)
- OSHA / Workplace Safety
- Tool Identification and Proper Usage
- Blueprint Reading / Measurements
Qualifications
- Valid Arkansas teaching license or ability to obtain Arkansas CTE licensure through an alternative pathway.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, welding, construction, manufacturing, or skilled trades preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to meet physical demands of teaching hands-on Industrial Technology courses.
- Commitment to the mission and expectations of Siloam Springs School District.
