Bus Aide
Primary Goal
Maintain student safety and order so the driver can focus on the road.
Work Schedule
Part-time, split shifts (early morning and late afternoon).
Key Responsibilities

Student Assistance: Help students board and exit safely; operate wheelchair lifts, secure safety harnesses, seatbelts, or special mobility equipment.

Behavior Management: Monitor passenger conduct, enforce bus safety rules, defuse conflicts, and address behavioral disruptions before they distract the driver.

Safety & Emergency Support: Assist in emergency evacuations, administer basic First Aid if needed, and ensure seats and aisles remain clear.

Communication & Documentation: Report behavioral incidents or medical issues to school staff and parents, and maintain route records when required.
Core Qualifications & Skills

Patience & Compassion: Strong ability to work well with young children and students with physical, emotional, or developmental special needs.

Communication: Clear verbal communication to give instructions to students and report concerns to school personnel.

Physical Stamina: Ability to assist students with mobility, lift heavy equipment (often 40–50 lbs), and react quickly during emergencies.

Background Check: Must pass background screenings.
