Summary

  • Manage the flow and synchronization of student and employee data across various software systems, protecting the district's data from unauthorized access.
  • Lead the initial data population and automate ongoing syncs whenever new software or services are implemented.
  • Write, modify, and develop code (using PowerShell, SQL, Python, bash, etc.) to automate manual processes, such as employee and student onboarding solutions.
  • Maintain local databases, implement reporting tools, and collaborate with consultants to support in-house applications.
  • Act as the local software expert, assisting users, trainers, and registrars with initial implementations and ensuring accurate data entry.

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor and troubleshoot data synchronization between all software systems.
  • Independently read, interpret, and debug script error codes to resolve technical roadblocks without requiring constant managerial intervention.
  • Rigorously test scripts and validate data accuracy before deployment to production environments to prevent systemic errors or inaccurate reporting.
  • Research, recommend, and evaluate security practices to mitigate risks to district data resources during daily operations and when onboarding new software.
  • Exercise discretion and judgment regularly, maintain good punctuality, drive an automobile on district business, and perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in core scripting languages (specifically PowerShell and SQL) to write, modify, and comprehend complex scripts and queries. Understanding of Active Directory, Google Admin, EntraID, database administration, and network fundamentals.
  • Project Communication: Proactively communicate project timelines, realistic delivery estimates, and potential technical roadblocks to IT leadership and stakeholders.
  • Work Ethic & Execution: Process-oriented with the ability to maintain up-to-date documentation and work effectively without close supervision.
  • Customer Service: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to serve as a positive face of the department. Ability and enthusiasm to collaboratively train and assist educators and support staff with software and basic hardware troubleshooting.

Job Demands & Basic Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred) with 3-5 years of data engineering experience. Must have background education and experience in technology applications.
  • Requirements: Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and be available to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Physical/Mental Demands: The job is performed primarily in a seated position but requires periodic standing, walking, bending, and lifting of IT equipment. Requires regular decision-making and the ability to adapt to repeated interruptions.
