Full job description

The Mechanical Engineer position shall be skilled and knowledgeable in the Mechanical Engineering field with emphasis in the HVAC and Plumbing disciplines. As a pb2 Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of and lead a team designing and producing construction documents for retail, grocery, convenience stores, fuel stations and commercial buildings.

You will provide oversight and apply basic to intermediate engineering/architecture principles as a team to complete design computations, prepare written technical reports, produce design documents and details. You will work with the Project Team to make project decisions based upon factors such as client requirements, building constraints, and local regulations.

The right candidate will be able to drive the performance and success of our mechanical staff, projects, and project teams through the development and mentorship of junior staff. The Mechanical Engineer will be able to develop new business opportunities through direct and indirect client contact, oversee and facilitate communication among internal and external staff, and proactively assist the team to achieve its mission and profitability goals.

This is a salaried, full-time position working in our offices located in beautiful Northwest Arkansas. A remote work option is available to candidates based on experience and suitability.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited program preferred

· Prefer five (5) or more years’ experience in mechanical/plumbing design as a lead licensed professional

· Professional Engineer Licensure in good standing with ability to obtain licensure in multiple states preferred.

· Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, codes, design guides and standards relating to a broad range of practices, projects and/or program types.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills

· Multi-tasking and time management skills

· Proficient in REVIT, AutoCAD, Bluebeam

· Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, Microsoft Teams

· Valid driver’s license

· Work Visa Sponsorship will not be provided

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

· Prepare working drawings and perform calculations in support of broader engineering activities, ensuring the concepts fall within schedule and budget for the project.

· Proactively advises and mentors designers and engineers across teams or practices, providing oversight and technical guidance ensuring that production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.

· Leads project and design efforts from concept design through completion.

· Takes responsibility for the success of those under their direct supervision.

· Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and complicated design challenges through direct involvement or in an advisory capacity. Gather and record information to be used for determining and selecting the proper equipment.

· Work with multiple project teams and disciplines to produce fully coordinated construction documents and ensure there are no conflicts or interferences between designed systems.

· Ensure that all design work is within the preliminary scope definition and comply with all applicable building codes.

· Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to project team.

· Maintain current knowledge of mechanical/plumbing codes, energy codes as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities. Ability to research and resolve code issues.

· Knowledge of Carrier HAP, Comcheck, Energy Pro, HVAC Manufacturer Selection Software, REVIT Dynamo.

· Produce drawings and designs in accordance with company production and design standards.

· Promote, utilize, and support quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors & omissions.

· Ability to manage project schedules and budgets.

· Willingness to travel to project locations on a limited basis.

Licensure:

We encourage our Professionals to maintain professional licensure by providing:

Work Schedule/Hours:

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST, one hour lunch from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. Hours greater than 40 per week may be required.

Physical Activity Level:

Generally sedentary physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities in office environment, including frequent typing, computer use, visual verification of small details.

Occasional air travel or driving to project sites may be required. Occasional lifting <50 lbs., standing, bending, reaching.
