The Account Manager - Promo reports to the Head of Sales, Promo and leads strategy, development, and execution for promo customers. This sales leader is responsible for establishing vision and strategy, implementing operational plans, and delivering programs and product offerings that create value for the customer and support Outdoor Cap’s strategic business plan. The Account Manager is directly responsible for supporting all aspects of sales plan execution and for maintaining the health of the customer relationship by focusing on development, distribution, management, and execution. Guides the strategic planning, implementation, and tactical execution of the business plans for Outdoor Cap products alongside the Director of Strategic Accounts and Head of Sales, Promo.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works to support the financial goals of Outdoor Cap
  • Functions as the main point of contact for key customers and builds effective and influential relationships at the buyer and management levels.
  • Promotes growth in existing and new customers
  • Maintains customer loyalty through the highest level of service and commitment
  • Leads a business planning process that establishes vision, strategy, and operational plans; and helps provide definition of goals and targets
  • Provides creative and opportunistic solutions to adversity in order to achieve targets
  • Understands and articulates customer needs and opportunities in order to develop sales, product and merchandising plans that are clear in direction and purpose
  • Leads the sales and product development lifecycle through effective collaboration with Product Development, Design, Sourcing, Marketing, Processing and Production teams
  • Aligns with all departments to ensure flawless and timely program execution
  • Gains knowledge of Business Intelligence to ensure data accuracy, accurate forecasting and utilize sales and inventory reporting to deliver insights that help drive the business
  • Communicates and collaborates with Production, Warehouse and Distribution teams to ensure on time delivery
  • Builds meaningful relationships with team members across the organization
  • Provides guidance for internal and external sales representatives and networks
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with Director of Strategic Accounts and Head of Sales, Promo
  • Maintains a strong awareness of the marketplace, competition, trend, and innovation, while communicating those findings to the broader organization as necessary.
  • Demonstrates a robust knowledge of Outdoor Cap’s brands, products, and systems
  • Maintain & continue to develop relationship with customers which can be leveraged for Outdoor Cap long term success.
  • Continuously assess customer goals and strategies to determine an optimal sales plan for Outdoor Cap
  • Actively participates and engages with the National Account Managers and Director of Strategic Accounts through collaboration, communication and best-practice sharing.
  • Manages multiple promo accounts and adjusts sales tactics and procedures as appropriate for each customer

  • Intermediate level computer experience in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communicator (visual, written and verbal) and a creative thinker with the ability to use data to inform decisions
  • Highly collaborative, able to establish and maintain relationships and displays strong leadership abilities to influence and work cross-functionally
  • Excellent time management, multi-task oriented, organized, and keen sense of personal accountability. Is highly motivated with strong work ethics and demonstrated flexibility to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong negotiation skills required.
  • Must be comfortable in high-pressure situations with a win-win attitude and willingness to take ownership of providing a total customer solution.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or institution in Business, Marketing or related field, or combination of relevant education and experience.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Domestic travel up to 30%
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs occasionally throughout day.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40lbs in limited trades show environment.
  • Able to hear a telephone ring.
