Product Information Specialist | Digital Shelf

Outdoor Cap Company is looking for a Product Information Specialist to drive the future of our Digital Shelf (PXM - Salsify) across our owned websites, marketplaces, customers, and industry platforms. The ideal candidate for this role will be a mix of data guru, workflow manager, and creative copywriter with experience in PIM (Product Information Management) systems. You are able to work with large sets of product marketing data and enhance them for use by our internal teams and external partners.

Position Summary:

The Product Information Manager is responsible for maintaining product information and data consistency, ensuring that all product information is accurate throughout the product lifecycle. This position requires excellent understanding of data administration and management functions. Additionally, this position requires cross functional collaboration to ensure proper product information, specifications, images, and descriptions are received from product launches to organizing the data internally and sharing it to third parties to all occur seamlessly.

Essential Functions:

  • Well versed in Product Information Management (PIM) systems.
  • Take full ownership of the functional and technical responsibility for the Outdoor Cap PIM system (Salsify) by understanding the fundamentals and what is needed to manage the catalog and ensure product data accuracy and completion.
  • Create and optimize data concepts and data processes.
  • Management of Adobe Commerce and some Shopify accounts to ensure correct product information is shown on the requisite sites and within search engine search results.
  • Implement data standards over the product life cycle.
  • Responsible for the data structure, data processes and the import and export channels in the PIM system.
  • Monitor and ensure data quality and coordinate the flow of data between all parties and systems involved.
  • Work closely with product development, external vendors, and internal/external marketplace managers to create appropriate methods to distribute product content to third parties, primarily all major e-commerce channels.
  • Understand operational challenges and provide thought leadership in addressing issues.
  • Enable data driven culture with ease of access and usage.
  • Collaborate and determine with leadership to understand future requirements and direction of the business to chart out data strategy.
  • Provide support for PIM requests from internal team members.
  • Organize internal training courses and create training materials for users with assistance of Employee Experience Team.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage the standard operating procedures and work instructions, including continuous improvement reviews and updates.
  • Manage multi-format source files for a single target use.
  • Serve as the expert of all online marketplace platforms with product listings.
  • Ensure that all updates and edits to listings are completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor online platforms and databases to ensure accurate product listings are being maintained.
  • Opening tickets within vendor portals to correct identified issues within online listings.
  • Assist with data projects as needed.

Education and Qualifications

  • E-Commerce experience required, especially in product data management
  • Salsify experience preferred.
  • Superior excel skills.
  • Proactive, well organized with the ability to work under own initiative and be flexible.
  • Strategic, creative, and innovative thinker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of APIs for data integration
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or institution.
    OR 3+ years professional experience working in ecommerce and data management.

Software Experience:

  • Salsify or other PIMs - Required
  • Microsoft Excel – Required
  • Bynder or other DAM Products - Preferred
  • Asana - Preferred
  • GS1 - Preferred

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend
  • and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be
  • able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs occasionally throughout day.
  • Able to hear a telephone ring.
