Job Summary

The Clinical Educator Lead is responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing comprehensive educational programs to meet the learning needs of clinical staff across the facility. The Clinical Educator Lead collaborates with department leaders, healthcare teams, and other educators to ensure the delivery of evidence-based, high-quality training that enhances staff competencies and supports excellent patient care.

Essential Functions

  • Assesses the educational needs of clinical staff and develops targeted training programs to address gaps in knowledge, skills, and competencies.
  • Designs, implements, and evaluates clinical training programs, including disease-specific education, procedural skills training, and simulation-based learning.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Education, Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), and department leaders to ensure training initiatives align with strategic objectives and quality improvement goals.
  • Serves as a clinical resource and consultant for staff, providing expert guidance on patient care practices and procedures.
  • Coordinates and facilitates in-services, skills labs, and other learning opportunities to enhance staff proficiency and confidence.
  • Develops, revises, and maintains individualized goal-directed educational plans for clinical staff, ensuring alignment with current evidence-based practices.
  • Participates in key quality initiatives, providing training and support to meet regulatory requirements and organizational performance metrics.
  • Maintains current clinical skills and knowledge in assigned specialty areas, modeling best practices for staff.
  • Provides content-specific orientation training for new hires, clinical students, and graduate trainees to ensure smooth transitions into practice.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of educational programs through feedback, performance data, and outcomes analysis, making adjustments as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher with an emphasis in Nursing or Nursing Education preferred
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably acute care required
  • 1-3 years of teaching experience as a unit or facility educator required
  • 3-5 years of experience in area of specific training need preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional design, and curriculum development.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse learners effectively.
  • Proficiency in using simulation technology, learning management systems, and other educational tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess training needs, design relevant programs, and measure outcomes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality improvement processes in healthcare settings.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and foster a culture of learning and professional development.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • Professional certification in nursing education or a related specialty preferred
  • Instructor status for multiple levels of Life Support, such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
