About the unit:

This is a FT Behavioral Health RN position working Day / Night shift in the Behavioral Health department at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Arkansas

Our Inpatient Behavioral Health Service offers 77 beds for adults (18 years of age and older) that are experiencing an acute psychiatric crisis and present a danger to self, danger to others, and/or grave disability as a result of their mental illness. Our typical patient population consists of individuals with mood, thought, and or co-occurring conditions that require interventions with medication, therapy, and observation.

This position functions primarily in the psychiatric acute inpatient space of the hospital, assisting patients who are experiencing an immediate mental health crisis and require acute stabilization and treatment. Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care. Assists physicians during examinations and procedures. Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse. Promotes patients' independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Requires an associate's degree and is certified as a registered nurse Prefer Bachelors degree in Nursing. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
