The Assistant Director of Student Success & Career Services will provide support to the director in strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination of student support programs designed to promote academic achievement, retention, and career readiness at Northwest Arkansas Community College. The Assistant Director supervises and supports the work of the Student Success Coaches and the Career Services Coordinator, ensuring a cohesive, student-centered approach that integrates academic coaching, career services, and holistic student development. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Director, faculty, advisors, and campus departments to implement interventions and programming that support student engagement and persistence. The ADSS also manages key systems such as early alerts, retention initiatives, college readiness programs, and the development of student success courses.Essential Duties:
Provide direct supervision and leadership to the Student Success Coaches and the Career Services Coordinator, offering guidance, performance management, and professional development support.
Ensure alignment and collaboration between student coaching and career services to support students holistically from entry to career placement.
Coordinate the development, assessment, and continuous improvement of both academic success and career readiness services.
Foster a collaborative team environment that promotes innovation, accountability, and student-centered
practices.
Support the Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive student development and retention plan, including proactive interventions for at-risk students.
Collaborate with leadership to lead the design and delivery of college readiness and transition programs for both traditional and nontraditional students.
Co-manage and enhance the college’s early alert system, working with faculty and staff to identify and respond to students in academic distress.
Promote and support the integration of student support services (e.g., tutoring, writing/math centers, library resources) into academic success strategies.
Collaborate with faculty and student services staff to develop and promote the College Success Skills course and other skill-building programs.
Other duties as assigned.
Rate of Pay: $48,671 annualized *Higher compensation may be considered based on qualifications directly related to position.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, higher education, or a related academic field
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching, advising, or coaching in a community college or higher education setting
Minimum of 6 months experience supervising professional staff or leading cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with retention and student support programming in higher education
Knowledge of both academic success strategies and career development best practices
Familiarity with student information systems, early alert software, and data analysis tools
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across departments.
Knowledge of student development theory, retention strategies, and equity-minded practices.
Ability to asses programs, analyze data, and implement improvements based on outcomes.
Understanding of diverse student needs and commitment to inclusive student success.
Serve as a resource and liaison to campus stakeholders in the development of best practices related to student placement, persistence, and engagement.
Lead or serve on college-wide committees and task forces as appropriate and assigned by the Director to support student success initiatives.
Support and evaluate co-curricular programming that connects academic and career pathways.
Under the Director’s guidance, administer and manage assigned departmental budgets, including planning and forecasting for success coaching and career services programming.
Work with the Director to analyze data and prepare reports on student success metrics to inform institutional planning and continuous improvement efforts.
Oversee job placement data collection and reporting so they align with Arkansas Workforce, NWACC departments and programs, and other institutional requirements.
