The Director of the Bicycle Assembly and Repair Technician Program will teach full-time (3-3 course load) while leading comprehensive administrative and operational components of this innovative program. As the primary representative of NWACC's BIEA-accredited Bicycle Technician Program, the Director will teach and oversee delivery of the BIEA-accredited curriculum, direct all operational, administrative, instructional, and financial activities, and manage grant opportunities and funding initiatives. This position reports to the Executive Director of the Trails Trade School and Construction Technology.

This full-time position offers an extraordinary opportunity to build and maintain an internationally recognized program in #themountainbikecapitaloftheworld. The Director will serve as a dynamic community leader, forging strategic partnerships across the bicycle industry—including manufacturing, retail, and trail building companies—as well as with career and technology education centers, area high schools, and universities. The Director will spearhead program development and expansion initiatives while providing strategic direction for K-16 educational partnerships and continuing education programs, including ECE and service-learning curriculum components. This role includes securing and maintaining MOUs and 2+2 transfer agreements with partner institutions, and leading comprehensive student completion and career placement efforts to ensure graduates successfully transition into thriving bicycle industry careers.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide oversight for the development, expansion, and administration of the BIEA Bicycle Assembly and Repair Technician programs and grant(s).
  • Manage operational functions including recruitment, scheduling, enrollment, and financial performance and learning assessment of programs, students, staff, and faculty as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with internal NWACC departments, external workforce development entities, and industry representatives to address current and emerging workforce education needs.
  • Oversee the development of course offerings/schedules for each semester and assist with program assessment, accreditation, and review processes.
  • Conduct recruitment events and host program information sessions to attract prospective students.
  • Advise prospective and current students on academic and career pathways
  • Supervise adjunct faculty and oversee student-run bike shop operations .
  • Teach an instructional load of up to 9 credit hours per semester while maintaining classroom and shop facilities.
  • Collaborate on continuing education efforts, community outreach, and workforce development initiatives.

Rate of Pay: $65,061 annualized *Higher compensation may be considered based on qualifications directly related to position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
  • At least three years of experience in bicycle mechanics, repair, or related technical field
  • At least two years of administrative or supervisory experience, or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in higher education or workforce development
  • Five or more years of bicycle industry experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of bicycle assembly, repair, and maintenance
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in budget development and financial management
  • Ability to build and maintain industry partnerships
  • Experience with grant writing and management
  • Knowledge of mountain bike trail systems and outdoor recreation industry
  • Experience with program accreditation processes
  • Experience teaching

  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional designs

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
