NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is seeking a qualified and passionate part-time faculty member to teach Judo and Self-Defense courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in martial arts, experience in teaching or coaching, and a commitment to student success and safety. This position involves planning and delivering engaging, inclusive, and skill-based instruction to a diverse student population.Essential Duties:
- Teach assigned Judo and Self-Defense classes in accordance with NWACC’s curriculum and academic standards
- Develop and implement lesson plans that promote physical fitness, self-discipline, and personal safety
- Provide hands-on instruction in techniques, drills, and safety protocols
- Maintain a safe and respectful learning environment
- Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
- Participate in required training and professional development activities
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration
- Uphold NWACC’s mission and values
Rate of Pay: $765 per credit hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in Judo and/or Self-Defense (e.g., black belt or equivalent certification)
- Prior teaching, coaching, or instructional experience in martial arts or self-defense
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field
- Experience teaching in a college or community education setting
- Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with students of varying skill levels and backgrounds
Work Environment:
- Classes may be held in gymnasiums, fitness studios, or other designated campus facilities
- Physical activity is required, including demonstrating techniques and supervising student practice
