The Fractional Controller directs and oversees the financial activities of client corporations who do not have a full-time need for a Controller. This position directs client’s preparation of current financial reports and summaries, and creates forecasts predicting future growth.
Duties/Responsibilities: *Works with tax partners and client to develop detailed short, mid, and long-term financial forecasts. *Lead or assist in month end close and balance sheet reconciliations *Assist in client accounting software conversions or implement ways to leverage existing software *Cost accounting helping clients better understand margins of products sold *Prepare budgets based on forecasts. *Provide strategic management of accounting and finance functions for clients. *Direct accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for clients. *Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of client’s financial information. *Collaborate with client’s executive leadership and management on strategy. *Identify and manage business risks and insurance requirements. *Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports. *Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets. *Reviews planning process and suggests improvements to current methods. *Oversee investment of funds and works with investment bankers to raise additional capital required for expansion. *Reconcile bank statements for clients. Assist client in hiring efforts. Work with client leadership to develop accounting and financial policies, procedures and manuals. ** Supervisory Responsibilities: *Client accounting staff on as-needed, as-required basis.
Required Skills/Abilities: *Excellent management and supervisory skills. *Excellent analytical and organizational skills. *Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems. *Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Education and Experience: *Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, or *Finance required, Master’s preferred *Certified Public Accountant license required. *Minimum five years of experience in financial management required. *Experience in agricultural industry strongly preferred.
Physical Requirements: *Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. *Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. *Must be able to access various departments of a given location. *Travel approximately 25% of time. *Remote work availability.
