About Maynard Inc.

Since 1982, Maynard Inc. has been a trusted leader in high-precision CNC machining and advanced fabrication, delivering critical components, assemblies, and kits for aerospace, space, defense, and commercial customers worldwide. With over 250,000 square feet of ITAR-controlled manufacturing space and more than 40 years of innovation, we are a growth-focused team committed to quality, reliability, and continual improvement.

Job Description

Maynard Inc. is seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team supporting aerospace and defense applications. This position is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who understands that precision machining is about more than pushing buttons.

Our machinists work with complex, tight-tolerance components using advanced 5-axis CNC mills and mill-turn equipment, machining materials such as Inconel, titanium, 17-4PH stainless steel, and other challenging metals.

In addition to producing quality parts, this position will play an important role in developing and training the next generation of machinists. The successful candidate will share their knowledge of machine setup, machining processes, inspection, quality standards, and shop practices directly on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills, including simultaneous 5-axis machining.
  • Set up jobs independently, including tooling, work holding, offsets, and machine adjustments.
  • Machine complex, tight-tolerance aerospace and defense components from a variety of challenging materials.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and machining specifications.
  • Work from CAM programs and CNC code to produce accurate, repeatable parts.
  • Prove out first articles and new jobs, making necessary adjustments to achieve quality and process requirements.
  • Perform in-process and final inspection of machined components using appropriate precision measuring equipment.
  • Monitor machining processes and make tooling, offset, and process adjustments to maintain part quality.
  • Identify potential issues before they result in scrap, rework, or production delays.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following established shop and quality standards.
  • Help troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and setup issues.
  • Train and mentor less-experienced machinists and apprentices in proper setup, machining processes, inspection, quality expectations, and shop standards.
  • Lead by example and help promote a culture of craftsmanship, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Required to hit setup times consistently and drive runtime reduction.

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Proven experience setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machining centers.
  • Simultaneous 5-axis machining experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, work holding, feeds and speeds, and offsets.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications.
  • Experience machining aerospace, defense, or other highly precise components preferred.
  • Experience working with Inconel, titanium, 17-4PH, and other hard-to-machine materials preferred.
  • Strong understanding of precision inspection and measurement techniques.
  • Ability to identify and correct machining issues independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
  • Ability and willingness to train and mentor others.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to meeting production and quality expectations.
  • U.S. work authorization required due to the nature of the work and ITAR requirements.

Education & Experience Preferred

  • 5 years of 5-axis CNC machining and setup experience.
  • Aerospace or defense machining experience is highly valued.
  • CAM experience, particularly Mastercam or similar software, is a plus.
  • Previous experience training, mentoring, or developing other machinists is preferred.

Work Environment

This is a hands-on, on-site machining position in a precision manufacturing environment. The machinist will work directly with CNC equipment, tooling, inspection equipment, and other production resources while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, precision, and productivity.

Why Maynard Inc.

  • Full-Time, On-Site

  • SEP-IRA
  • Competitive Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plan
  • Opportunity to work on complex aerospace and defense components
  • Hands-on training and mentorship opportunities
  • A team-oriented environment focused on quality, productivity, and continuous improvement

  • Work with advanced 5-axis CNC equipment and complex aerospace/defense components
