ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

Job Summary
Maynard Inc. is actively seeking an experienced Accounting Associate to join our Shared Services Group. In this position, you will be responsible for performing Accounts Payable activities as well as processing Payroll activities for multiple companies. Future potential for accounting position. Applicant must be flexible.

Location: Fayetteville, AR
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $50,000-$80,000 salary (Based on experience and skill level)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00AM – 4:00PM

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Process all vendor invoices
  • Verify information, perform research, and resolve discrepancies if necessary
  • Monitor discount opportunities
  • Obtain appropriate approvals
  • Record in financial system
  • Maintain records by filing documents
  • Assist with preparation of check payments
  • Determine appropriate sales tax treatment for items purchased
  • Post recurring and non-recurring bank drafts in financial system
  • Provide backup for other accounting functions
  • Perform special projects as directed

Payroll:

  • Accurately process all aspects of employee compensation (Salaries, Wages, Bonuses, Loans, Advances, Deductions)
  • Collect and verify time sheet data
  • Calculate pay adjustments
  • Prepare payroll tax reports (941, 940, etc.)
  • Distribute direct deposit information
  • Submit Payroll NACHA files to the bank
  • Record payroll activity in the General Ledger
  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax laws and regulations
  • Process payroll taxes (Federal & State withholding, FICA, FUTA, SUTA) and submit payments online
  • Prepare annual W-2 information
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters
  • Maintain payroll software data
  • Perform special projects as directed

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in Payroll Software and knowledge of Payroll Regulations
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting principles
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Understanding of Sales and Use Tax
  • Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
  • Strong PC proficiency (MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills (courteous, professional, helpful)
  • Reliable – punctual and able to complete scheduled workload
  • Willingness to perform routine, detailed work

Education and/or Experience Preferred

  • Degree in Accounting (desired)
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience performing similar work

Work Environment

  • Business office setting using a computer workstation
  • Standing, walking, reaching, pulling, and bending required
  • Must be able to walk distances greater than 500 yards and climb stairs
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds
