Location: Fayetteville, AR
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000 – $80,000 annually
Schedule: Monday through Friday. General start and finish time is 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our Shared Services Group. This role is responsible for managing the payroll activities of multiple companies as well as performing a variety of accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, proficiency with payroll software, and the ability to maintain accuracy and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
- Accurately process all aspects of employee compensation, including salaries, wages, bonuses, loans, advances, and deductions.
- Collect and verify timesheet data, calculate pay adjustments, and prepare payroll tax reports (941, 940, etc.).
- Distribute direct deposit information and submit payroll NACHA files to the bank.
- Record payroll activity in the general ledger.
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax laws and regulations, process federal and state payroll taxes (withholding, FICA, FUTA, SUTA), and submit payments online.
- Prepare annual W-2 forms and respond to employee inquiries regarding pay-related matters.
- Maintain payroll software data and perform special projects as assigned.
Accounts Payable
- Process all vendor invoices, verifying accuracy and resolving discrepancies when necessary.
- Monitor discount opportunities, obtain approvals, and record transactions in the financial system.
- Maintain organized records by filing documents and assist with preparation of check payments.
- Determine appropriate sales tax treatment for purchases.
- Post recurring and non-recurring bank drafts in the financial system.
- Provide backup support for other accounting functions and assist with special projects.
Knowledge and Qualifications Required:
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in payroll software and knowledge of payroll regulations.
- Strong accounting knowledge with an understanding of sales and use tax.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
- Professional, courteous, and reliable, with strong customer service skills.
Preferred Experience & Education:
- Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience performing similar payroll and accounts payable functions.
Work Environment:
- Business office setting with regular computer use.
- Standing, walking, reaching, pulling, and bending as needed.
- Ability to walk distances over 500 yards and navigate stairs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
