Overview
The Medical Records Clerk works under general supervision to file and retrieve patient medical
records.
Responsibilities:
1. Scan all reports in EMR in an accurate and timely manner.
2. Use information from the computer and outguides to locate missing charts.
3. Photocopy patient records, burns CD's as needed for release.
4. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of department locations throughout the clinic.
5. Complete all scanning and filing for medical records.
6. Route all charts to designated areas as needed.
7. Monitor the lobby area and be ready to assist if patients or visitors encounter difficulties.
8. Keep the area clean and tidy.
9. Assist in training new employees in departmental procedures.
10. Other duties as assigned.
11. Mail and/or print out medical records to patients or medical offices requesting them.
12. Pick up medical records that need to be scanned in the designated areas.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines.
Equivalent to four years high school or GED, with particular emphasis during high school in office skills, shop skills, or others, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and
experience.
