Overview

The Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant position is under the supervision of the physician. The RMA/CMA to the Physician is responsible for providing direct or indirect care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems; utilizes knowledge of basic Medical Assistant principals, practices and ethics; participates in the organization and management of the physician's practice.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physician and other care team members in setting up for procedures and exams, patient intake, assisting other members of the care team as needed.
  • Ensure that patient chart/EMR entries are made accurately and in a timely manner
  • Contact pharmacy to order new and refill prescriptions; notify patient; document appropriately
  • Triage patients to ensure productive departmental flow
  • Obtain vital signs, EKGs
  • Administer injections

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training
