Job Summary:

Under routine supervision, the Regional Equipment Manager is the liaison between Customer Experience and Operations. The incumbent will maintain and monitor equipment pools to manage available capacity and ensure service excellence. The incumbent will analyze trailing equipment needs to ensure utilization of company and non-company assets are met for all parties involved. This position is generally assigned smaller and/or less complex market areas and will receive guidance from senior team members as needed.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities: • Monitor equipment and capacity allocated to customers and investigate instances of noncompliance • Manage available capacity to match freight volume • Understand the customers in assigned markets and their flexibility/service requirements to prioritize service based on customer requirement, profitability, and visibility • Act as point of contact with internal teams, such as Sales, Customer Experience, Operations, Pricing, and Maintenance regarding potential new business, efficient operations of existing sites, and smooth onboarding of newly awarded sites • Maintain and monitor equipment pools for both J.B. Hunt and/or non-company equipment; ensure trailer and/or container pool utilization through various internal and external systems • Gain understanding of supply and demand trends to identify impacts to the network balance; prepare plans to stabilize equipment within assigned market area(s) • Promote trailing equipment velocity through investigating lost, misused, downed, and inactive equipment to get assets back into circulation with an emphasis on loaded inactives to reduce potential claims; coordinate with internal teams to expedite repairs on downed equipment • Reduce driver detention time at facilities by engaging with field operations to locate available equipment • Maintain system geofences to ensure increased visibility to company training equipment; research and resolve units with location discrepancies

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years of experience in the Transportation/Logistics industry, or related field, or military equivalent, or suitable combination of education, experience, and training

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of experience in the Transportation/Logistics industry, or related field, or military equivalent
Ability to focus activities on developing and maintaining positive customer relationships
Proven experience in establishing and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
Experience in fostering strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement
Ability to measure the quality and quantity of work effort for the purpose of improvement
Ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
Ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors
Accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment

Previous Truckload internship experience at J.B. Hunt preferred

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company’s bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
