Highlands Radiation Oncology is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our team. We are committed to providing advanced radiation therapy treatments and provide quality post treatment care. Job Summary: The APP functions as an expert in patient assessment, clinical exams, and appropriate interventions. The APP will have extensive contact with patients, requiring collaboration with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The APP is dedicated to the provision of competent, compassionate, and ethical care of patients. APP provides services under the umbrella of the Radiation Oncologists at Highlands.


Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive care to radiation oncology patients in inpatient/outpatient settings.
  • Appropriately order and review results of laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide prompt management of acute symptoms related to the disease and/or treatment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with Radiation Oncologists and other providers, as indicated.
  • Ability to complete acute care visits within Radiation Oncology for patients and staff within operational procedures; scheduled appointments with required documentation and billing completed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of disease-specific and clinical protocols.
  • Able to instruct patients and families on treatment courses.
  • Consult Social Worker, Chaplain or other Allied Health staff as needed.
  • Prescribes medication as per state licensing guidelines but does not prescribe initial chemotherapy or biotherapy.
  • Utilize resources such as NCCN and UpToDate.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists in the clinic operations in a cost-effective manner.
  • Follow all guidelines for radiation safety within Radiation and Radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Shall act within the lawful limits of the Arkansas State Board of Nursing APRN Collaborative Practice Agreement, or the Arkansas State Medical Board PA Collab Agreement.
  • Responsible for keeping licenses, certifications, BLS and ACLS current.
  • Duties and responsibilities will continue to evolve and may change as deemed necessary, and as the role of the APP is further developed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in obtaining HPI/Interval History, and Medical, Social, and Surgical History; Assessment, which includes Review of Systems and Physical Exam; and Clinical Impression/Plan.
  • Proficient in EMR utilization
  • Able to act with skill under stress and/or in emergency situations.
  • Capable of forming effective relationships with patients, families, the public, and healthcare professionals.
  • Expertise operating Microsoft Office Platforms.

Certifications/Licenses/Education/or Experience in a related field:
  • The APP has one or more years of experience with preference for radiation oncology.
  • Appropriate licensure with the state of Arkansas. Maintains a current, unencumbered license(s).
  • Completes continuing education to maintain licensure and certification(s).
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth through participation in relevant education and associations.
  • Oncology certification encouraged.

Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Lifting and moving patients: Ability to lift, move, and assist patients, often requiring more than 50 pounds.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Must be able to push and maneuver equipment and patient transport devices.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Requires good hand-eye coordination to operate controls and handle small objects.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent use of hand and fingers for operating machinery and adjusting settings.
  • Bending and Reaching: Must bend, stoop, twist, and reach to position patients and operate equipment.
