Highlands Oncology began in 1996 with three physicians and a desire to change the face of oncology care in our community. Our founding physicians knew that patients do better at home, in the community where they live and work, and where their support system is already in place. In furthering that goal, Highlands has grown with the region from a single location 26 years ago, to 6 locations in Northwest and Northcentral Arkansas today employing more than 700 diverse team members.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently or with minimal assistance from another dosimetrist or
  • Ability to use Varian Treatment Planning software proficiently recommended but not
  • Ability to plan routine radiotherapy plans including, but not limited to, 3D (required), IMRT (recommended), SBRT (recommended).
  • This position has access to confidential information concerning patients and requires dependability, good judgment, and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including representing themselves in a professional
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and conflict resolution

Education and Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience as a medical dosimetrist recommended, but not
  • Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Dosimetry recommended but not
  • Certification in Medical Dosimetry by the Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board (MDCB) recommended but not required.

Job Summary:

  • Clinical dosimetry support at Highlands Oncology clinics, including routine dosimetry calculations/treatment planning (2D/3D/electrons), advanced treatment planning (IMRT/VMAT/SBRT), secondary checks, routine

Job Function / Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine radiotherapy treatment
  • Assist in designing and preparing special immobilization devices, positioning molds, and/or beam
  • Triage questions from Radiation Therapists about daily treatment setup/treatment.
  • Initiate appropriate action to have equipment repaired as
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Clinical Medical
  • Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, and mouse controls. Must be able to stand for 8 hours; lift 40-pound block to shoulder level; have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment.
