Description

HFA seeks a seasoned Electrical Engineer with over 10 years of experience in building design, particularly in healthcare projects. This role requires leadership in engineering design across a spectrum of projects and mentoring fellow engineers within the team and the broader firm. The ideal candidate will exhibit extensive expertise in electrical system design specific to hospital environments, covering Power Plant equipment, Generators, Substations, Hospital lighting design and controls, and low voltage systems. With a focus on healthcare and critical environments such as laboratories and clean rooms, the candidate will oversee all aspects of electrical design for complex projects in hospital, pharmaceutical, and laboratory facilities.

Responsibilities include project administration from proposal development to construction completion, with a key focus on budgeting, scheduling, planning, design, and specification writing. The candidate will have the authority to direct, control, and monitor activities across multiple projects simultaneously. A fundamental understanding of mechanical systems is necessary for coordinating project installations with Mechanical Engineers and preparing Construction Documents related to electrical system installations. Additionally, effective communication skills are vital as the candidate will be expected to present complex engineering concepts to clients, industry partners, and internal staff confidently.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engineer has gained broad experience in multiples projects types and clients or garnered enough experience in a single project type or client to be seen as an expert in that particular area.

  • Engineer has the ability to lead a client/client team (1-5 staff), any project type, or be lead Engineer for large project utilizing their experience and education in lighting design, power design, and knowledge of NEC and other national standards; as well as solve any challenges that arise on a project. Engineer should have a complete understanding of energy codes and how to apply them to power and lighting design with minimal oversight.

  • Engineer can work in an independent manner on any project and/or client types with minimal to no oversight by Engineer or Team lead.

  • Engineer should have a thorough understanding of photometric calculations, lighting design, fault current calculations, 1-Line diagrams and be able to independently select lighting systems and controls for projects listed above.

Job Duties:

  • Engineer should be able to train employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and technical questions pertaining to electrical design, NEC, or other national standards.

  • Engineer will work in a collaborative environment with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents based on a clients' requirements, including all phases of a project.

  • Engineer will be able to provide final quality control of their projects and others.

  • Engineer will have direct client contact, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.

  • Engineer will establish project budgets, with the approval of Electrical Team lead, and work with Team lead to ensure those projects are financially successful, unless in a strictly technical role for the company.

  • Engineer should serve as Engineer of Record.

  • Engineer should be licensed in more than 10 states.

  • Engineer should be able to write specifications for any project type.
