SUMMARY: The Tax Accountant is to be primarily responsible for preparing income tax returns, performing reconciliations and bookkeeping functions, and assisting with various tax projects and functions across all George’s entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist with the preparation of federal and state income tax returns and audits for various types of entities.
  • Prepare various quarterly and annual payroll tax filings.
  • Assist with researching tax issues.
  • Proactively monitor proposed tax legislation and law changes to ensure appropriate compliance and identify potential opportunities.
  • Prepare workpapers associated with ASC 740 accruals.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset records for income tax purposes using tax fixed asset software and accounting records.
  • Assist with federal and state tax notices.
  • Assist with special projects and tax planning.
  • Reconcile numerous back accounts.
  • Compile workpapers and prepare year-end tax summaries.
  • Utilize QuickBooks to input financial information and produce financials.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Required
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, and analytical skills, and must be a team player yet able to work independently.
  • Preferred
    • CPA
    • 1-3 years of professional experience
