Job Title: Occupational Health Manager

Department/Location: Environmental Health and Safety

SUMMARY: The Occupational Health Manager provides strategic systematic leadership for Occupational Health Services. This position collaborates with the operational business leaders to continually improve the occupational health programs and provide leadership to the occupational health team across the company. In conjunction with key stakeholders, the Occupational Health Manager develops and implements strategic plans and annual operating goals consistent with the strategic direction, objectives, and policies of the Company, which maximize team member health and productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Lead the design and implementation of George’s Occupational Health System.

· Responsible for coordinating, managing, planning, and developing policies and procedures to provide high quality team member health services that meet all internal and external requirements.

· Serve as the internal expert on industrial hygiene and related tasks, to include exposure risk assessment and the management of external occupational health partners.

· Develop and deliver training to site and corporate staff on occupational health topics.

· Coordinate continuing education for facility health professionals.

· Assess existing occupational health programs for internal and external compliance.

· Provide consistent and efficient roll-out and training to the site health professionals.

· Develop and maintain standard medical treatment protocols and equipment/supplies to support those protocols.

· Ensure collection, monitoring, and reporting of data and health information practices to assure proper custodianship of health records and trends analysis

· Audit medical records to ensure compliance with OSHA Recordkeeping, standards of care, policy and procedures, and medical surveillance regulations.

· Understand worker’s compensation and OSHA requirements and risks, and apply that understanding in clinical practice and oversight.

· Conduct various work-related exams and manage return to work evaluation program.

· Workers' compensation management including, compliance with requirement of state workers' compensation regulations, ensure reporting of cases that require outside medical care to third party administrator (TPA), administration of internal case management on workers' compensation claims, adhere to all state and federal regulations including OSHA, Worker's Compensation, etc..

· Lead and manage the process for health assessments and evaluation of team members for return-to-work, fitness for duty in accordance with George’s occupational health management protocols, and the authorized physicians written directives.

· Preform quality assurance checks of treatment and protocol usage by facility health professionals through on-site and systems audits.

· Review, interpret, and analyze occupational health legislation, regulations, and program services to ensure organizational compliance. Assess for feasibility of operationalizing new and/or revised programs/services by establishing assessment criteria for existing programs in conjunction with current federal and local regulations and medical standards and theories.

· Provide up-to-date guidance on all aspects of the Occupational Health Program, keeping pace with advancement of science in occupational medicine and industrial hygiene.

· Strategically relate to all levels of the organization-from the executive level to the plant floor.

· Work with partners in Safety, Human Resources, and other shared services functions to ensure strategies are in place to successfully recruit, develop, and retain health professionals.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Required

o 9+ years of experience in of progressive experience in occupational health or medical administration in a manufacturing industry OR Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 5 years of related experience.

o Licensed Registered Nurse (RN), Paramedic, Practical Nurse (LPN), or similar

o Strategic occupational health or industrial hygiene experience developing and implementing ergonomics program or similar

o Basic computer skills required to include proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

o Problem-solving thorough understanding of record-keeping and regulatory requirements for occupational healthcare

Preferred

o Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) or Council for Accreditation In Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) certificate

o Occupational Health Nurse Specialist (COHN) certificate

o Certification in Occupational or Public Health or Master s degree or Ph. D in Public Health

o Food manufacturing experience

o Bilingual
