As a CNC Machinist, you will operate and maintain lathe and milling machines, ensuring precise production by reviewing blueprints and taking accurate measurements. You will select appropriate machines, plan tasks, and monitor production making necessary adjustments. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean workstation, overseeing multiple CNC machines, and handling complex tasks. Duties include monitoring the machine or machines during a production run to ensure properly produced parts, inspecting dimensions and features of the machined part while keeping the CNC machine running at an optimal pace for production requirements.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Operating state-of-the-art lathe and milling machines
- Evaluates engineering drawings to confirm production feasibility and ensures that the drawings provide sufficient detail to comply with aircraft quality standards.
- Precision in cutting and measuring materials such as stainless steel, 4130 alloy, acrylics, and composites, etc.
- Handle more complex machining tasks and ensure high precision in production.
- Skilled in machining parts with a tolerance of 0.001 inches.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to optimize machining processes.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience setting up and operating Turn-Mill in a manufacturing environment.
- Problem-solving skills to detect issues in the creation process and find solutions to ensure the machinery creates the product provided in the engineering drawing.
- Must possess detailed knowledge of industry lather and milling systems.
- Execute precise alignment measurements of all machine axes utilizing indicators and probes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Secondary education in machining/operating.
- Highly developed attention to detail.
- Highly developed concentration and precision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings.
- Problem solving skills.
- Light programming experience.
- Proficient in manual machining, lathe operations, CNC saw operations, iron work, and other essential shop skills.
