Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing Strategy & Activation develops and drives audience-centered marketing engagement strategies across paid and owned channels, including social media, PR, and campaign activations. This role connects brand strategy with execution, ensuring that campaigns are integrated, impactful, and aligned with organizational goals. The Director will oversee campaign strategy leads and managers, PR, social, email/CRM, and paid media functions to deliver innovative, high-performing marketing initiatives.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of all marketing project workflows, ensuring clarity of roles, timelines, and deliverables.
- Oversee resource allocation across internal teams and external partners to maximize productivity and efficiency.
- Partner with Strategy, Creative, and Digital leadership to align operational plans with campaign objectives.
- Manage Senior Project Managers and Project Managers, providing coaching, support, and performance feedback.
- Implement project management tools, systems, and processes to enhance visibility, accountability, and workflow efficiency.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, bottlenecks, and resource conflicts.
- Develop operational KPIs and reporting dashboards to track performance, improve forecasting, and guide decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with brand standards, internal approval processes, and budget guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in marketing strategy, brand activation, or integrated communications roles.
- Proven track record of developing and executing high-impact, multi-channel marketing campaigns.
- Experience leading diverse teams across PR, social, media buying, and digital engagement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Excellent creative thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and paid media platforms.

- Physical Demands: In the work environments described below, Position requires working at desk/workstation and utilizing a computer, audio and video equipment and telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, verbal and written conversation with others, walking, standing, lifting/carrying (up to 35 lbs.). Vision abilities required by the job include both color and close vision.
- Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and in museum spaces as necessary. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
