Compensation Range: $15.00 - $17.00

About Crystal Bridges & The Momentary:

Crystal Bridges is a museum of American art located in Bentonville, Arkansas. We explore the unfolding story of America by actively collecting, exhibiting, interpreting, and preserving outstanding works that illuminate the American heritage and artistic possibilities. Founded by Alice Walton in 2005, the museum opened in 2011 and is a public, non-profit charitable organization with free admission.

The Momentary is a new contemporary art space that opened to the public on February 22, 2020, in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas. A satellite to Crystal Bridges, the Momentary presents visual, performing, and culinary arts. The mission of the Momentary is to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life and explore the unfolding story of contemporary American arts in an international context by actively commissioning and exhibiting outstanding works that explore new ideas and inspire action.

Position Summary:

Eleven/Events/Food Truck Operations at Crystal Bridges/Momentary specializes in modern American comfort food in multiple dining atmospheres. Our back of house staff is responsible for the preparation of food items in all assigned areas and kitchens. This position will be part of a team supporting the Museum’s strategy of “Welcoming, Invigorating, and Excellence” in order to leave a lasting positive and dynamic impression for our guests

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Set up station according to outlined guidelines
  • Prepare food items from BEO/Recipes/as directed by Chef
  • Prepare all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner while minimizing waste
  • Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as instructed
  • Restock all items as needed at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of the shift
  • Clean and maintain station, practicing good safety, sanitation, and organization skills
  • Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in various kitchens.
  • Assist with putting away food orders while practicing proper food rotation and labeling
  • Assist with cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas
  • Perform additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by Chef, Chef de Cuisine Sous Chef, or Director of Culinary at any time
  • Support all team members, front and back of house

Qualifications and Skills:

Education, Training, and Traits:

  • Professional cooking and knife handling skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
  • First-hand knowledge of kitchen setup and processes

Work Experience:

  • Previous line cook/Event cooking experience in food service operations.

  • Physical demands: In the work environment described below, position requires working in a high functioning restaurant for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for prepping, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job. Additionally, this position requires meeting the public and the organization in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Work environment: Work will be performed in an office environment, museum spaces, and in communities served. The physical arrangement of the kitchen may require the position to work in an open environment within close proximity to other colleagues. Work space must be organized and reflect efficiency. The noise level in the Museum work environment is usually moderate. Frequent evening and weekend work hours and some local travel are required.
