Job Summary:

The Women's Health RN & Patient Educator plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive nursing care and education tailored specifically to women's health needs. This position focuses on promoting wellness, managing chronic conditions, and supporting patients through various stages of reproductive and general health. The role involves collaborating closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop individualized care plans that empower patients to make informed health decisions. Additionally, the educator component emphasizes patient engagement through clear communication, health literacy enhancement, and advocacy. Ultimately, this position aims to improve patient outcomes by combining clinical expertise with compassionate education and support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in women's health or related nursing field.
  • Strong knowledge of women's health issues, reproductive health, and patient education principles.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Women's Health Nursing (e.g., WHNP-BC) or Patient Education (e.g., CPE).
  • Experience working in outpatient clinics, community health settings, or specialized women's health centers.
  • Advanced training in health coaching, motivational interviewing, or behavioral health.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems (eClinicalWorks experience is a plus!)
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish or Marshallese is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Assess Healthy Start patient learning needs and provide individualized education.
  • Provide nurse navigation services to support patients across the continuum of care, including care coordination, patient education, referral management, and removal of barriers to timely access and follow-up
  • Explain medical conditions, treatment plans, and medications.
  • Demonstrate procedures and provide instructions for home care.
  • Address patient and family concerns and questions.
  • Maintain patient flow during clinic to assure prompt service for patients.
  • Obtain vital signs, measurements and laboratory tests accurately, as per protocol.
  • Obtain chief complaint and reason for visit using excellent listening skills.
  • Administer treatments and medications proficiently and safely.
  • Maintain exam room supplies and cleanliness for optimal efficiency.
  • Refer patients as appropriate, interacting with referral sources in a professional and cordial manner.
  • Triage unscheduled patients, telephone calls and other patient concerns using triage protocols and professional judgment as well as a warmth and concern for the patient’s wellbeing.
  • Document all patient interactions completely and promptly in the medical record.
  • Refer patients to other providers as requested by clinicians; completes forms, maintains records of referral and follow-up of results and recommendations. Appropriately documents referral interactions in the medical record.
  • Adhere to applicable regulatory guidelines and laws, including but not limited to HIPAA/HITECH, CLIA, HRSA, NCQA PCMH and OSHA.
