Description
The incumbent is responsible to perform maintenance tasks or delegate tasks assigned by the Building Maintenance Supervisor to other Parks Maintenance employees.
Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.Job Duties

- Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
- Directly supervises approximately three employees within the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Establish priorities for the workweek and sequence of projects in order to coordinate and ensure efficient completion of the established work schedule.
- Operate equipment including, but not limited to riding lawn mowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, chain saws, hand tools, edgers and blowers.
- Operate heavy equipment including a front end loader, tractor, drag, four wheelers, and gators.
- Coordinate the fulfillment of needs of parks and equipment.
- Report vandalism, hazardous conditions, and park facility closings to Buildings Maintenance Supervisor.
- Keep park facilities clean, maintained and stocked with supplies as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned by Buildings Maintenance Supervisor.
- Responsible to follow safety procedures set by the Department and City.
- Repair equipment as necessary.
- When possible, assists with general maintenance of other park facilities.
- Oversee the daily activities of work crews in order to provide direction and ensure completion of projects.
- Make decisions regarding natural materials to be used on projects and on methods to be used in performing tasks in order to ensure safety and protection of the environment during construction and maintenance projects.
- Assess trail conditions, process observations into written reports, and make recommendations in order to provide training and ensure protection of the environment.
- Communicates with laborers, volunteers, supervisors, and others in order to provide information, training, and motivation.
- Physically able to perform strenuous work outdoors for extended periods of time including but not limited to digging, vegetation clipping, and lifting materials over 50 lbs.
- May be required to work overtime and weekends for special program events.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 2 years of related experience and/or training; and a minimum of 12-18 months of management experience.
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
- Must be proficient in the use of riding lawn mowers, front end loaders, weed trimmers, four wheelers, Gators, a push mower, and chain saws.
- Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
- Must be knowledgeable of trail construction, maintenance techniques, and specialized tools and equipment used in trail construction and maintenance.

Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, and offenses against children.
