Description
The incumbent is responsible to perform a variety of routine, clerical, secretarial and administrative duties; answers the telephone, interacts with the public, compiles digital case files, digital evidence, transcribes interviews, and generates cases for the Child Abuse Hotline when necessary.
Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.Job Duties

- Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
- Prepare all clerical documents and correspondence from the Criminal Investigation Division.
- Maintain the calendar for the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Answer telephone line(s), screen and direct calls appropriately. Greet the public and direct them to the appropriate investigator or supervisor. Assist with the general public in the CID lobby and determine what is transpiring on their case(s) on a daily basis.
- Respond to questions from the public and other city officials.
- Maintain and request supplies for the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Maintain the roster of the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Generate incident reports, receive and transcribe reports of crime from Arkansas State Police, DHS, and other agencies pertaining to Child Abuse Hotlines.
- Create and maintain Hotline Cases; document on a daily basis and assign Hotline Case(s) to an investigator.
- Deliver CID arrest paperwork to the records division. Receive and enter attachments, witness statements, digital evidence, and other general forms from police officers regarding cases under investigation.
- Assist detectives with locating information for investigations, adding narratives and supplemental narratives, and arrests to existing cases pertaining to the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Create digital case files through the Tyler system on a daily basis. Receive information on cases such as intelligence, digital evidence, etc. and type narratives.
- View and generate digital evidence files through AXON, and build digital files through WatchGuard to maintain discovery on felony cases, CID cases, and juvenile cases.
- Respond to requests on a daily basis for information regarding discovery for other agencies such as the Springdale City Attorney’s office, various prosecutor offices, juvenile prosecutors’ office, juvenile intake, etc.
- Assist investigators by maintaining NIBRS compliance for the Criminal Investigations Division.
- Compile statistical data as requested; assist with crime analysis processes as assigned.
- Create and maintain monthly invoices for overtime of task force officers.
- Transcribe interviews of suspects, victims, and witnesses conducted by CID investigators when necessary.
- Run subjects through ACIC/NCIC as necessary. Enter and maintain firearm sales data and provide information to investigators as requested.
- Document ACIC/NCIC deletions. Ensure reporting parties have been contacted and are aware of the recovered property.
- Maintain notifications on parolees released and assigned to our jurisdiction.
- Collect and distribute mail, case attachments, and other assorted paperwork.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED plus specialized training and/or additional college courses and 12-18 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Obtain ACIC Level I or CJIS Certification.
- Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.
- Train to be able to access and utilize ACIC/NCIC database, Evidence.com, WatchGuard, Tyler/RMS, eCite, eCrash, Court Connect, and other software applications as necessary.
- Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
- Must be able to withstand a complete background investigation, polygraph examination, and drug screening(s).
Supplemental Information
Must be able to pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and have the ability to comply with state and federal requirements for criminal justice information security standards and obtain necessary certifications.
