Description
The incumbent is responsible to provide general care and maintenance of animals, perform intake and adoption functions, assist public, answer phone, operate register, close out and run daily reports.
Job Duties
-
- Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
- Clean and disinfect animal cages.
- Care for special needs animals.
- Feed, water and provide general care to animals.
- Access animals, handle wild/vicious animals, bag dead animal bodies as needed.
- Bottle feed and provide general care for orphaned or abandoned domestic and wild babies.
- Assist public with questions about what animal is right for them, usage of live animal traps, etc.
- Perform animal intake and adoptions, ensure all paperwork is complete and entered onto computer system.
- Perform vaccinations, bathing, grooming and other care of animals.
- Close register, run daily reports and answer phone.
- Perform general cleaning of the facilities to include; sweeping, mopping, dishes and taking out trash.
- Work with the public on all levels.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
-
- High school diploma or GED and 7-11 months of related experience and/or training.
- Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer, standard office equipment, animal traps, catch poles, hoses, mops and scrub brushes.
- Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
- Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written often under adverse conditions.
- Possess good judgment, good powers of observation and memory.
Supplemental Information
Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, and offenses against children.
