Administration
SUMMARY
The incumbent oversees the development, promotion, and implementation of all community events and wellness programming including, but not limited to fitness classes, summer day camps, special events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
1. Implement practices and procedures to provide high-quality customer service and safety for summer day camps, special events, and fitness programs.
2. Utilize a creative approach to promoting and marketing all recreational programming and special events.
3. Maintain the events social media and website page.
4. Implement new programs and events in line with Division goals, Master Plans, and community feedback.
5. Establish and manage an appropriate and approved budget for all recreation programs based on previous years’ expenses and revenues, projecting reasonable growth.
6. Propose, coordinate, market, and organize all special events, adult wellness programing, summer day camps, and races offered by the City.
7. Perform general administrative tasks including but not limited to planning, organizing, registration, writing and presenting program reports, evaluations, and summaries.
8. Responsible for funds, equipment and property of the Division.
9. Coordinates and oversees all event support, and recreation support contractors including payment processing.
10. Serve as City’s liaison for events coordinated by outside entities that utilize City property ensuring applicants receive excellent customer services and that all required departments are involved.
11. Backup for the Parks Administrative Assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.)/(B.S.) in Recreation or equivalent, or 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to rate, ration and percent, draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule form.

Valid drivers’ license.

*Weather Essential position includes employees are declared to be all sworn police officers, all sworn firefighters, dispatchers, emergency road crew employees in the Street Department, and electrical personnel in the Electric Department.
