Essential Job Duties

  1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members, of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  2. Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws.
  3. Assist Judge and Chief Clerk in the courtroom during arraignments and sentencings. Includes locating paperwork, writing dispositions, obtaining driving records, defendants history and other items as necessary in order for the quick and efficient processing of individuals.
  4. Prepare court report from the police department, check paperwork and prepare for arraignments the next day.
  5. Forfeit the bond money and check payments that come over on the court reports from the police department.
  6. Prepare check requests for bond and payment refunds, process checks and mail when received from accounting department.
  7. Monitor cases that are appealed to Circuit Court.
  8. Work to resolve problems including; answering other clerk's questions, locating and correcting problems with court report when it is out of balance, make adjustments for incorrectly assessed fines, costs or payments.
  9. Regularly communicate with attorneys, general public, prosecutors, ACIC, and various law enforcement agencies.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Enter the final dispositions and assess fines and costs on the criminal cases that come through court.
  2. Communicate with the public by phone or in person; answer questions, look up court dates, take County payments, and perform background checks.
  3. Secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED and two years of related office experience.
  2. Two years of related court experience preferred.
  3. Ability to balance multiple accounts and use basic accounting skills.
  4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to obtain and maintain certification with AR District Court Clerk Association preferred.
  6. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; move from location to location; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Standard vision abilities to accomplish computer and office work.
