Essential Job Duties

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Planning and Accreditation Battalion Chief, this position would serve as the focal point for assistance with understanding, interpreting, and implementing local, state, and federal regulations to maintain legal compliance. Internal policy and procedures are constantly evolving to ensure proper guidance is given to fire department personnel in performing their duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: All City of Fayetteville positions require employees to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
Other essential duties of this position include the following:

1. Plan, manage, and coordinate Fire Department efforts to maintain National Accreditation status under the direction of the Planning Battalion Chief.
2. Develop proofs of compliance for accreditation standards.
3. Identify, verify, and reconcile compliance with established fire standards in coordination with the Planning Battalion Chief.
4. Coordinate the development, review, revision, and maintenance of the Department’s catalog of policies and forms to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
5. Work closely with staff on policy revision and review. Assist the Planning Chief on maintaining a standard format associated with departmental software designed for accreditation management.
6. Conduct regular reviews with relevant staff and leadership and revise Departmental policies and procedures manuals to ensure standard operating procedures are reliable and up to date.
7. Regularly report to direct supervisory staff on accreditation compliance and necessary procedures, records, and reporting statuses.
8. Prepare/edit a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, and other materials as required by direct supervisor.
9. Assist supervisor and command staff in the development, research, data analysis, and implementation of information for the publication of departmental reports.
10. Maintain departmental calendar and be the designated point of contact for scheduling events and activities.
11. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
