Essential Job Duties

Secondary Job Duties

  1. Serve as backup to perform the duties of other supervisory positions within the division as assigned.
  2. Perform secondary duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED and three years of related experience with one year of supervisory experience.
  2. Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class B.
  3. Ability to operate solid waste equipment to perform assigned job duties.
  4. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  5. Must possess or obtain Solid Waste Management Facility Operator License from ADEQ – Class 1 A within one year of hire.
  6. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret division rules, CDL regulations and City ordinances pertaining to solid waste and recycling.
  7. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, members of the business community, Police Department, and Fire Department.
  8. Ability to calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  9. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  10. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  11. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and other related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment and solid waste equipment.
  12. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must have vision abilities to perform essential functions.
  13. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; regularly exposed to outside weather conditions; and occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
