Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Note: All City of Fayetteville positions require employees to provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Other essential duties of this position include the following:
1. Maintain and administer the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN). Install and configure routing and switching devices.
2. Maintain and administer wireless devices/services.
3. Develop and maintain documentation pertaining to networking systems and equipment.
4. Assist with the maintenance and administration of City servers and network infrastructure, including new installations, configurations, upgrades and hardware support.
5. Proactively monitor network system utilization, perform growth analysis and assist with capacity planning.
6. Implement system security policy, to include firewalls, network access, file permissions and user accounts.
7. Create and implement LAN/WAN security policies.
8. Assess departmental network communication needs. Recommend and implement solutions.
9. Install cabling systems to include copper, fiber and coax. Work involves working with inside and outside plant facilities and includes termination, connection and splicing.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL DUTIES BASED ON ASSIGNMENT
Telephony
1. Administer and maintain the Voice Over IP (VoIP) Telephony system including upgrades, call handlers, adds, moves and changes, etc.
2. Oversee and coordinate annual maintenance agreements for networking and telephony equipment and software.
Traffic
1. Maintain and administer the network that supports traffic signals and network connected traffic systems such as rectangular rapid flashing beacons, school zone flashers, and traffic count equipment.
2. Collaborate with traffic staff to coordinate and manage traffic network related tasks.
3. Install wireless network equipment for inside and outside plant facilities including traffic signals.Secondary Job Duties
