Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.
- Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
- Enforce laws, codes and city ordinance requirements for safety, health and unsightly property conditions.
- Organize and maintain accurate records of property inspection activities.
- Perform on-site inspections of properties for violations of various City codes including: property conditions, storage of vehicles, unsafe buildings, zoning compliance, grading violations, storm water violations and recycling and trash collection violations.
- Effectively communicate information about municipal codes and regulations while maintaining working relationships with property owners, business owners and representatives from other agencies and the general public.
- Seek remedies to property violations including but not limited to correction letters and violation notices.
Secondary Job Duties

- Prepare all reports as necessary.
- Train new officers on equipment, computer and procedures as needed.
- Perform secondary duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED is required. Prefer twelve months of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and any offense under A.D.A. 21-15-103 and A.C.A. 21-15-111.
- Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
- Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
- While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities required to perform essential functions.
- While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
