Essential Job Duties

  1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  2. Have a thorough understanding of the billing process and be able to convey this information effectively to customers.
  3. Prepare work orders and assign to appropriate supervisors and/or drivers.
  4. Prepare monthly reports on solid waste charges and landfill usage.
  5. Provide monthly roll-off commercial billings and collections for billing reports.
  6. Maintain database of residential carts.
  7. Prepare residential and commercial billing and bill additional services.
  8. Perform database entries for weighted tickets.
  9. Schedule residential cart delivery, exchange, or pickup.
  10. Handle customer appointments for bulk/trash pickups.
  11. Exhibit excellent customer service while assisting customers with complaints and problems and aid in finding solutions.
  12. Operate the scale house computer to obtain weight records of customers’ and waste haulers’ incoming/outgoing loads as needed.
  13. Maintain all scale tickets for the City’s transfer stations. Enter customer information, print scale tickets and receipts, file tickets into appropriate categories and process necessary paperwork for deposits as needed.
  14. Maintain a clean work area including counter and windows in the scale house.
  15. Receive payments from customers.
  16. Balance tickets, cash drawer, and daily deposits.
  17. Take inter-office mail and/or deposits to City Hall as needed.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED and two years of related experience.
  2. Possess a valid driver’s license.
  3. Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and any offense under A.C.A. § 21-15-103 or A.C.A. § 21-15-111.
  4. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  5. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  6. Have a basic understanding of cash handling principles.
  7. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and be able to become proficient in applications utilized for cashiering and scale house operations. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  8. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities to accomplish computer and office work.
  9. While performing the functions of this job, the employee may be exposed to outdoor conditions. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
