Essential Job Duties

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

  1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members, of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  2. Monitor access to the terminal aircraft parking area and restrict access as may be appropriate.
  3. Moves aircraft in and out of hangars and on ramp areas using hand and motor-drive tugs.
  4. Parks, fuels and ties down/chocks aircraft; perform minor service such as airing tires on aircraft and adding oil as needed.
  5. Loads and/or unloads baggage.
  6. Uses airport and City radio networks to communicate with aircraft, Control Tower and Line Control.
  7. Processes credit, charge and cash payments, balances cash drawer and prepares related reports.
  8. Refills fuel service trucks, takes readings on trucks and tanks, performs fuel quality testing and completes fuel storage inspection reports. Performs scheduled inventory of fuel and oil. Maintains fuel trucks and fuel storage tanks.
  9. Communicates airport advisories using appropriate systems.
  10. Ensure parking apron is clear of debris.
  11. Reports lights out and other maintenance issues to responsible authority for repair.
  12. Performs grounds and facility maintenance, including custodial duties, as required.
  13. Performs routine maintenance on airport vehicles and equipment.
  14. Serves in a designated “on-call” status on a rotating basis to respond to service calls outside normal operating hours.
  15. Serves as backup for Customer Service Team, providing assistance and convenience services as requested.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED and 12 months of experience operating maintenance equipment or facility maintenance experience required. Certifications from National Air Transportation Association (NATA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and/or the National Fire Protection Administration (NFPA) related to flight line operations are preferred.
  2. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  3. Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses and any offense under A.C.A. 21-15-103 or A.C.A. 21-15-111.
  4. Ability to use mathematics involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, and/or calculating ratios, rates and percents.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  6. Ability to speak clearly and be understood on radio systems, as well as understand what is being said by others on the radio systems, to ensure safety of self and others.
  7. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide service in a positive, friendly manner.
  8. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  9. Ability to work independently and to make sound decisions relative to the work.
  10. Ability to detect and correct or refer to proper authority any operating deficiencies in equipment.
  11. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear as necessary for safety reasons or to operate certain equipment, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock and/or vibration. Job functions frequently require the employee to perform work from elevated positions. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud due to regular exposure to jet engine noise.
