Essential Job Duties

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

  1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of his or her own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  2. Perform supervisory responsibilities which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws.
  3. Exercise independent judgment to make on site decisions to overcome unforeseen problems that arise.
  4. Read and comprehend drawings of plans for streets, sidewalks, trails and drainage. Utilize transit to shoot and set grade.
  5. Utilize safety procedures as needed on all jobs.
  6. Communicate with employees, residents, customers, and the general public in a professional manner.
  7. On call 24/7 for emergency response.
  8. Attend training courses required and classes for hours to keep required licenses.
  9. Supervise all materials, personnel and equipment required to complete assigned projects.
  10. Operate equipment to perform all jobs in the department.
  11. Keep all equipment and tools maintained, schedule repairs on vehicles and equipment.
  12. Responsible for usage of P Card for purchases of Materials needed for completion of job tasks.
  13. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Secondary Job Duties
  1. Assist in special projects from supervisors.
  2. Prepare paperwork and perform administrative duties, draw and copy maps/atlases as needed.
  3. Inspects equipment to diagnose potential problems. Order parts to complete job task.
  4. Field investigate problems and determine best course of action to resolve issues.
  5. Secondary duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or GED and two years of related experience.
  2. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License – Class A within 120 days of hire date.
  3. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  4. Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and other related software programs. Must be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  5. Must be capable and knowledgeable in operating heavy and light equipment, hand tools and all trade related equipment.
  6. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear for safety reasons or to operate specific equipment. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of vibration.
