SUMMARY Keeps City buildings, facilities, and adjacent grounds in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Reporting relationships, work assignments, and work schedules may be subject to change in order to meet City needs or operational requirements. Attendance at work and the ability to get along with the public, supervisors, and co-workers are essential elements of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

Sweeps, mops, scrubs, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office spaces.

Cleans restrooms, sinks, kitchen areas, and washing stations.

Cleans and sanitizes refrigerators, microwaves, and stove tops.

Cleans and dusts common areas and polishes furniture. Cleans accessible interior and exterior windows and mirrors.

Empties interior trash cans and garbage containers.

Cleans and sanitizes common contact areas including doors, door knobs, water fountains, and door frames.

Spot cleans carpets to remove stains.

As required, waxes tile floors and stairs.

Maintains building by performing minor maintenance, replacing light bulbs, electric clock batteries, touch-up painting, and other related minor maintenance activities as directed.

Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.

Performs outside trash pickup.

Responds to emergency spills and clean-ups.

Read and comprehend all safety rules and regulations.

Read and comprehend all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for hazardous or potentially hazardous cleaning products used on the job.

Follow all security procedures when locking and unlocking buildings.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS. Valid Drivers License.
