Requirements: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy; Primary Board Certification in Specialty area, current hospice certification preferred or commitment to obtain hospice certification within two (2) years of employment.Practicing physician, currently licensed under the provisions of the Arkansas State Medical Practice Act; strong medical assessment skills required; prefer membership on the medical staff of at least one hospital within the designated geographic area. Knowledge of hospice philosophy and concepts of care. Thorough knowledge of the techniques of pain and symptom management. Ability to teach medical concepts clearly. Ability to work in a team environment. Prefer minimum 5 years related experience. High level of community visibility, especially with other health care providers. Transportation for patient care and program development required.
General Description: The Physician has responsibility for the medical aspects of the hospice program as delegated by the Executive Medical Director. Keeping in mind the mission of the organization, the Physician must be concerned with excellence in patient and family care, serving as a primary liaison between the Hospice program and the medical community.
Community and Public Relations: Ensures the organization and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to the medical community. Assumes responsibility in the development of relationships with individual physicians, physician practice groups, hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical organizations, as appropriate.
Relationships: Works with entire hospice staff and volunteers; Serves as liaison with other health care providers, individual referring physicians and physician practice groups
