Role Description:

In this role, you will own the technical engagement with our customers in beverage manufacturing, from early exploration of solutions in a pre-sales environment, to project implementation.  After our solutions are implemented, you would also be responsible for answering customers inquiries, questions and troubleshooting where required. 

Our ideal candidate is a bit of a unicorn – he/she would ideally come from the beverage industry, have deep technical IT skills in IIoT and edge computing and software architecture/cloud computing.  The right type of candidate has a strong understanding of the manufacturing and production processes with bottles and liquids.  He/She would understand the integration of hardware and software and would have a strong working knowledge of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Programmable Logic Controllers, sensors, and edge computing. He/she loves talking to customers about their infrastructure, including the machinery and hardware used to automate beverage manufacturing, and he/she is familiar with the equipment used to execute these processes from brands such as Krones, KHS, Sidel and more.

You will be the right fit for us if you have strong customer-facing skills and can humbly work at all levels of an enterprise.  The right candidate for us will be a Solution Engineer who would be comfortable and confident sitting alongside our CEO in the morning, and speaking to the COO and CIO of a Fortune 500 beverage manufacturer, and in the afternoon, they would also be equally comfortable with their sleeves rolled up, speaking to a plant engineer and maintenance manager to troubleshoot an issue with a PLC on a beverage automation line, because it wasn’t communicating with the software platform and collecting data.  If this type of work sounds interesting to you, keep reading below.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Consulting and advising our beverage industry customers, ranging from senior leadership (CEO/COO) to plant maintenance (Automation Specialist or Head of Plant Engineering) to our partner network (System Integrators and Electrical Contractors) to future hires we will make (Data Scientist, Data Engineer).
• Serve as a strategic technical leader in the field providing architectural guidance that will result in a customized solution..  You will be comfortable working with Customer KPIs and data sets, and you will leverage your strong working knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes to design the best solution for the customer.
• Leading architectural discussions and design exercises to create world-class solutions for our customers. Providing a confident voice and be able to articulate how the design was constructed for successful deployment in operational & production environments.
• Being a Quantis and Pocket Factory evangelist; educating customers & partners of all sizes on the value proposition of the cloud-based, IIoT Pocket Factory platform.
• Being an industry thought leader in IIoT, Industry 4.0, and representing Quantis at industry conferences, and representing the Quantis point of view in customer-facing problem exploration.
• Build deep relationships with customers & partners to enable them to be advocates for our IIoT cloud-based platform, Pocket Factory.

A day in the life:

You will be a technical expert in software and hardware, with strong knowledge in: cloud computing, IIoT, edge computing, automation, MES systems, PCS systems, PLCs, sensors, controllers, and strong knowledge of the beverage manufacturing processes for filling and packaging technology and the machinery used in these processes (Krones, KHS, Sidel, Tetra Pak).  You will have a lot of curiosity – and you will love to learn.  You will relish the opportunity to be working closely with customers in a role that is focused on designing and creating solutions that live in between the worlds of software and hardware, and you will enjoy consulting with customers and utilizing your deep knowledge of sensors, controllers, PLCs, edge computing – and helping our customers leverage new and cutting edge innovations in Generative AI, ML, and more.

You will enjoy being the technical expert on our cloud IIoT software platform, Pocket Factory. You will excel at owning the design, development and implementation of our solution for our customers.  You will see the opportunity for continuous innovation of our platform… and will relish the opportunity to share these insights with our product development teams & software engineering teams to continuously improve our platform based on new customer insights and learnings.

 

You will keep your existing technical skills honed and develop new ones, so you can make strong contributions to deep architecture discussions with our customers. You will regularly take part in deep-dive education and design scalable exercises to co-create world-class solutions with customers, and continuously invent new solutions to empower everyone in the beverage industry.

The ideal candidate ‘knows beverage’ and considers himself/herself an ‘industry expert’.  He/She will have experience working as a systems engineer or a solution architect and will have strong working knowledge of beverage manufacturing industry practices and processes.

BASE QUALIFICATIONS

• 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, edge computing, cloud computing and services- AI/ML/Database, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, cybersecurity, networking, data & analytics) experience.
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to manufacturing processes in food & beverage that enabled you to build technical expertise on filing and packing automation.  
• You have a working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers, Sensors, Edge Computing, MES Systems, PCS systems, SCADA, and applications such as Modbus, Modbus/TCP, BacNet, Profibus, Power Monitoring System Software & Hardware.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience working in any of the following functions in the Food & Beverage Industry:  Engineering, IT, Manufacturing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure architecture, database architecture and/or networking experience, and modern cybersecurity architecture & solutions.
• 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
• 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software, IIoT, edge computing, or Internet Industry experience.
• Deep hands-on understanding of Generative AI applications, deep learning and other ML algorithms and infrastructure.
• Multiple language skills are preferred, including Spanish and/or German.
