Scheduling Note: Set Designer/Builder will not be required on site for entirety of camp, but will be called on select days.

Perry Ryan Theater Company (PRTC) is a Bentonville-based home for musical theater. From rehearsals to curtain call, our work honors story, community, and the people who make both possible, bringing the excitement and quality of Broadway to Bentonville. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Set Builder/Designer is an energetic, passionate, experienced individual with a passion for the performance arts. The Set Designer/Builder (in collaboration with the director) design, build, and otherwise create the set needed for the production camp, owning the process from start to finish. The Set Designer/Builder will make safety paramount, and ensure that all set pieces live up to the Perry Ryan standard of performance quality.

Essential Functions

• Design, create, and build the set for production camp

• Manage a budget and ensure successful delivery within the bounds of budget

• Adhere to Perry Ryan culture in all offerings, and serve as a representative of Perry Ryan when interacting with the public

• Foster a supportive and creative environment for Perry Ryan Summer Camps

• Work with the director to ensure safety and performance needs are met

• Be responsible for the delivery of set pieces on site, and successful strike of these pieces after camp

• Communicate set constraints and problem areas to director, and ensure resolutions are met.

• Assist in Load-In/Load-Out for camp, ensuring all set pieces are properly broken down as advised by Education Manager

• Participate in optional marketing opportunities

• Participate in camp creative team pre and post meetings

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ year experience working with children (babysitting, youth groups, childrens’ church groups, summer camps, etc.)

• Previous experience in theater performance

• Previous experience in set building

• Applicants must be 18+ to apply

• Proven ability to interact successfully with students ages 9-17

• Able to stand, walk, and interact with children and adults for extended periods of time

• Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation required

• Adherence to Perry Ryan Standards of Education

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in theater education with students of all ranges

• Previous experience with Perry Ryan productions, both educational and non

• Previous teaching experience

• Understanding of conflict resolution strategies

• First aid certification

• Understanding and experience in conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques

• A desire to learn and invest in a growing education theater program

• BA degree (or in progress) in Construction, architecture, or set design
