Scheduling Note: Lighting Designer will not be required on site for entirety of camp, but will be called on select days.

Perry Ryan Theater Company (PRTC) is a Bentonville-based home for musical theater. From rehearsals to curtain call, our work honors story, community, and the people who make both possible, bringing the excitement and quality of Broadway to Bentonville. Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Education, The Lighting Designer is an energetic, passionate, experienced individual with a passion for both education and performance arts. The Lighting Designer take the lead on the creation, assembling, tracking, and acquiring of all lighting cues needed for the production camp, owning the process from start to finish. The Lighting Designer will also be responsible for helping train students on the process of lighting design, through a series of mini skill workshops.

Essential Functions

• Create and design the lighting list for production camp.

• Manage a budget and ensure successful delivery within the bounds of budget

• Adhere to Perry Ryan culture in all offerings, and serve as a representative of Perry Ryan when interacting with the public

• Foster a supportive and creative environment for Perry Ryan Summer Camps

• Facilitate several lighting design based building workshops to technical theater track kids

• Maintain and ensure successful of cue list through camp

• Program light board to ensure successful delivery of lights during performances

• Work with the director to ensure lightplot is up to date, and hang/input new lights if needed

• Assist in Load-In/Load-Out for camp, ensuring all show information is stored

• Assist with strike on final camp day

• Work with the Education Manager to develop breakout group curriculum for prop design, and establish workshop content areas.

• Participate in optional marketing opportunities

• Participate in camp creative team pre and post meetings

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ year experience working with children (babysitting, youth groups, childrens’ church groups, summer camps, etc.)

• Previous experience in theater performance

• Previous experience in lighting design

• Applicants must be 18+ to apply

• Proven ability to interact successfully with students ages 9-17

• Able to stand, walk, and interact with children and adults for extended periods of time

• Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable personal transportation required

• Adherence to Perry Ryan Standards of Education

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in theater education with students of all ranges

• Previous experience with Perry Ryan productions, both educational and non

• Previous teaching experience

• Understanding of conflict resolution strategies

• First aid certification

• Understanding and experience in conflict resolution, and de-escalation techniques

• A desire to learn and invest in a growing education theater program

• BA degree (or in progress) in Education, Performing Arts, or related discipline
